Interlacing

Interlacing is a brief moment, invisible to the eye, when video cuts from one image to the next. To create the effect of a smoother transition, the new image doesn’t replace the previous one; instead, they are momentarily woven together in horizontal lines. The best way to appreciate the effect is to pause a video at a precise moment and zoom in so close that the image is no longer recognizable.
